Alfred Remote will be receiving a big "Version 2" update, I'm already planning the feature set and improvements.

It's also worth noting that we've been adding features to Alfred Remote through added objects within Alfred itself, so while Alfred Remote hasn't had a core update, it has had new abilities added over the past few years.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

Alan He reacted to vitor in Is the Alfred app suitable for saving passwords?
    Welcome @Viola,

It depends on the exact nature of your request. Alfred isn’t a password manager; apps who deal with passwords (there are several) tend to do just that. Technically you could use Alfred to store and retrieve passwords, but I’d recommend finding a password manager you like then using Alfred to interact with it. There’s an official Workflow for 1Password as well as third-party Workflows for KeePassXC, Bitwarden, Keychain (native to macOS), and probably others.

    Here's a screenshot to demonstrate:

    Installation:
Download the latest release from the above link and double-click to install.

    Usage:
Simply activate the Alfred file actions menu and type "moom"

    Current Issues:
Currently, the workflow will not work properly if your snapshot names have a comma in them.

    Welcome @KouFribz,

Skype has been an Electron app for a number of years, and those have always hard poor automatability. There may be an URL scheme or API for limited interaction with it as a service, but for the app itself it would require Microsoft to make changes.

Once Alfred 5 is out and settled, the Alfred Workflow Gallery will be our top priority, including integration directly into Alfred.

The Workflow foundation changes I've made in Alfred 5 pave the way for some really exiting new features (for Alfred 5.1, 5.2 etc). We'll be sharing details in due course!

    Cheers,

This may warrant creating a separate thread to this one, but if you let us know what features you're looking for, we may be able to help you achieve it with Workflows and a Snippet Trigger. There's so much flexibility in using Snippet Triggers, there's a good likelihood what you're looking for is already possible

I’m not aware of any text expansion software which does what you ask. Text expansion works by replacing a specific string of characters with something else. If it had to understand everything you type and be constantly evaluating, it would consume a lot of resources and lead to unexpected results. Just think of any trigger with .* in it.

An alternative would be a Snippet Trigger which invokes Alfred with a specific Workflow (or Alfred in general, since it does math by default).

Creating workflows will be faster, more user-friendly and accessible than ever with Alfred's new Palette, Prefabs, Automation Tasks and a totally revamped Workflow Editor.

Hey @Andrew and @Vero ! Congrats on the new version! This looks great and I’m loving the attention to details!

"Automation Tasks" looks to be a good idea to make Workflows work without breaking on system upgrade by keeping the actions maintained with Alfred. I’m looking forward to how this develops and also to the release of the task development tool!

Again, congrats and all the best!

I love Alfred but the worst part of it is debugging. I would love to have a vscode extension which outputs in the console's editor the same content as Alfred Debugger. It would make the development experience much less annoying as we can focus in a single app (vscode).

We're planning an Alfred workflow gallery, to which creators will be able to contribute their own workflows.

The project has been in the works for some time but, as a small team, we've prioritised getting a fantastic Alfred 5 release out first.  Once Alfred 5 has launched and users are happily up and running with the new features, we'll be working on an official site for Alfred workflows, as a separate project to v5.

Our aim is to create a safe and organised platform, which is easily searchable and browsable.

Alan He reacted to deanishe in How does the 'alfred:// url handler work?
The alfred:// URL is for exporting/importing custom Web Searches. If you open this URL, for example, Alfred will offer to import my TheTVDB.com search:
    alfred://customsearch/Search%20TheTVDB.com%20for%20%27%7Bquery%7D%27/tv/utf8/nospace/http%3A%2F%2Fthetvdb.com%2F%3Fstring%3D%7Bquery%7D%26searchseriesid%3D%26tab%3Dlistseries%26function%3DSearch
In Alfred 2, it was also the default way to share themes, but Alfred 3 exports files. This is my "Essen by Night" theme, and should still import in Alfred 3:
    alfred://theme/searchForegroundColor=rgba(211,211,211,0.73)&resultSubtextFontSize=1&searchSelectionForegroundColor=rgba(0,0,0,1.00)&separatorColor=rgba(8,7,7,0.91)&resultSelectedBackgroundColor=rgba(55,52,53,1.00)&shortcutColor=rgba(72,240,62,0.29)&scrollbarColor=rgba(55,52,53,1.00)&imageStyle=4&resultSubtextFont=Helvetica&background=rgba(8,7,7,0.91)&shortcutFontSize=2&searchFontSize=2&resultSubtextColor=rgba(88,83,88,1.00)&searchBackgroundColor=rgba(8,7,7,0.91)&name=Essen%20by%20Night&resultTextFontSize=2&resultSelectedSubtextColor=rgba(212,119,0,0.42)&shortcutSelectedColor=rgba(212,119,0,0.64)&widthSize=2&border=rgba(9,54,66,0.00)&resultTextFont=Helvetica%20Neue&resultTextColor=rgba(206,205,207,0.46)&cornerRoundness=3&searchFont=Helvetica&searchPaddingSize=3&credits=Dean%20Jackson&searchSelectionBackgroundColor=rgba(178,215,255,1.00)&resultSelectedTextColor=rgba(212,119,0,0.71)&resultPaddingSize=2&shortcutFont=Helvetica

Just released a version with support for biometric unlock.

@Acidham with the new one, you would instead have seen:

------------------------- IMPORTANT ------------------------- To use biometric unlock, you need to manually install the 1Password command-line tool. Download it at: https://1password.com/downloads/command-line/ Then run the Workflow again. Alternatively, disable Biometric unlock for 1Password CLI in the 1Password app preferences, under Developer. You may close the terminal. -------------------------------------------------------------
If you follow those instructions and reenable biometric unlock, it should now work.

I much prefer Sparkle, updates can be performed with one click or automatically instead of clicking "Alfred Update Available", then "Download update" and finally "Update and restart Alfred". Sparkle also offers the flexibility to ignore updates, I would almost prefer hiding the "Alfred Update Available" button link altogether.

Even without integrating Sparkle, one click updating would be a welcome change. Alfred remains one of the most cumbersome macOS apps to update.
