Vero got a reaction from yqrashawn in Alfred 5
We're planning an Alfred workflow gallery, to which creators will be able to contribute their own workflows.

The project has been in the works for some time but, as a small team, we've prioritised getting a fantastic Alfred 5 release out first.  Once Alfred 5 has launched and users are happily up and running with the new features, we'll be working on an official site for Alfred workflows, as a separate project to v5.

Our aim is to create a safe and organised platform, which is easily searchable and browsable.

@karenjs Could you please provide your Diagnostics file, which you can get by typing "?diagnostics" into Alfred? You can the email it to our info@ address, with a link to this thread please so that I can work out which conversation it relates to. I'll take a look and see what I can find out

Vero got a reaction from byte99 in Unable to install a Workflow
@byte99 To use Workflows, you'll need to install Alfred 4 from https://www.alfredapp.com (you've installed Alfred 1 from the Mac App Store)

Once you've installed Alfred 4, you can purchase a Powerpack license from our website. Activate your license and you'll then be able to take advantage of workflows, clipboard history, snippets, custom theming and more

    Cheers,

@andy4222 Thanks for the kind words about Alfred

There is a lot to consider in creating and, most importantly, continuously maintaining a Workflows collection, but I can assure you it's on our radar and we’ve discussed a number of different ways to implement this.

While I can't say much more for now, there are some pretty special things coming this year for Alfred.

In the meantime, you’ll find that searching online for “Alfred workflow [name of the app integration you want]” will likely return a few options, as our community has been so brilliant at creating workflows for their favourite tools out there!

Vero got a reaction from Engebret in Alfred shortcut does not work when using Slack
You can set any combo, provided it isn't reserved by macOS or used by another app / Alfred feature. For example, I mashed this combo (which wouldn't be my first choice 🤣 ) to show you can essentially set anything. Just be sure to press the keys you want to use all at once.

If they won't set, then the combo is either used elsewhere, reserved by macOS or incomplete (a minimum of one modifier is needed).

    Cheers,
    Vero

Vero got a reaction from Engebret in Alfred shortcut does not work when using Slack
@Engebret Welcome to the forum. Could you please provide some more details:
What Alfred hotkey have you set? Does Slack use hotkeys that may be consumed before they get to Alfred? Can you disable this feature if you're not using it, or change the hotkey? What if you change your Alfred hotkey to something different? A little troubleshooting goes a long way in us helping you work out what's happening on your Mac

Vero got a reaction from howdytom in [Solved] Alfred does no longer find folder names that end with .com/.org TLD
@howdytom That's a macOS question rather than an Alfred question to be honest. I do believe there's a way to override the icon globally, but I can't remember off the top of my head, so a bit of online investigation may be required.

For anyone who comes across this thread in the future; The first step to investigate this is to look at the metadata, which will almost always give you the information you need to work out whether the file you're looking for is 1. of the file type you expect, 2. in the location you expect, 3. correctly indexed.
  11. Thanks
Vero got a reaction from howdytom in [Solved] Alfred does no longer find folder names that end with .com/.org TLD
@howdytom You can add the "com.apple.web-internet-location" type to the workflow types you can search.

Click the [+] in the bottom right of the box and add the file type manually. That should do the job

Vero got a reaction from howdytom in [Solved] Alfred does no longer find folder names that end with .com/.org TLD
@howdytom If you take a look at the metadata, the content type is "com.apple.web-internet-location", not a folder - so a workflow set to search only for folders won't file that content type.

Where are your preferences stored? Check your sync settings in Alfred's Advanced preferences.

Do you use any cache cleaner apps that may be deleting files behind the scenes on restart of your Mac or periodically?

Vero got a reaction from GatorMapi in Wolfram|Alpha workflow
@pavelle A quick look at the 2017 post by @Jay S shows the workflow uses PHP, which Apple removed from macOS Monterey. You can read more about it here:
    https://www.alfredapp.com/blog/releases/alfred-4-6-ready-for-macos-monterey/

Odds are reinstalling PHP via Homebrew will get you some of the way there, but the workflow doesn't appear to be maintained so if Wolfram Alpha itself has changed in the past 5 years, these changes won't be reflected in the workflow.

If you use node.js, there's another Wolfram workflow here:
    https://www.npmjs.com/package/alfred-wolfram-alpha

Vero reacted to giovanni in Search within a file under a specific folder
hi @kkumar3, welcome to the Forum. If you are interested in a single folder, you can use a File Filter, restrict the scope to your folder of interest, and set kMDItemTextContent in Fields (more info here).
Or, if you want to set the folder dynamically, you can use the dynamic file search template workflow (more info here).

Vero got a reaction from vitor in Parallels - How to Launch Folder in Windows Explorer
@Foxy What I think @vitor is trying to convey is that while the Parallels and Finder windows are visually slightly similar, the underpinnings of the two are very different. Without the input of Parallels, any of us non-Parallels users would just be taking wild guesses that won't help your idea progress.

I can assure you that Vítor has no ill intent by reiterating that, after you asked a question none of us can answer ("Maybe there is a way to invoke that command using an Alfred workflow?")

Once you've gone forth and found out as much as you can about Parallels, we can help you with the last step of invoking the command using Alfred, but you first need to find out if it's 1. possible and 2. how it can be done

Vero got a reaction from Fissunix in Alfred.alfredpreferences updated ?
@Fissunix The Alfred.alfredpreferences bundle is like a folder, the timestamp won't be updated every time a file within it is changed, so you don't need to worry about that

If you're using Dropbox, please do check that you have your Alfred folder set to keep files available offline rather than Smart Sync only, to ensure that your preferences are available at all times.

Vero got a reaction from cands in Alfred doesn't find any documents while Spotlight does
@aryan9600 As suggested by @deanishe, there are a few different ways to search most efficiently using Alfred.

I would recommend removing images, documents and text files from the default results. Default Results will then return the most essential item types; Apps, contacts, folders, etc

You can then use the following keywords/tricks as prefixes to your search term:
Use the "open" keyword to open a file (or press the spacebar as a shortcut!) Use the "find" keyword to reveal the file in Finder Use the "in" keyword to search inside your files' content In other words, to search for a PDF, you would press the spacebar followed by the name of the PDF you want to search for.

If the issue persists, please give some tangible examples so that we can help you further (exactly what you're typing into Alfred, as well as details of the file you're expecting to find)

Finally, as you're using Monterey according to your first post, did you migrate your Mac data from another Mac / Time Machine by any chance? If so, please take a look at our troubleshooting guide to working around the macOS Monterey Migration Assistant bug.

Vero got a reaction from Alan He in Using Python 3 from the languages dropdown
@macsorcery Alfred doesn't bundle scripting languages (and didn't bundle Python 2 in the past); It uses the ones made available by macOS or that you've installed yourself.

There are instructions on reinstalling Python 2 here, as most workflows are being tweaked to use the new location where Python 2 is located on your Mac:
    https://www.alfredapp.com/help/kb/python-2-monterey/

Alternatively, some workflow creators are opting to move away from Python altogether and rewriting their workflows using other scripting languages that are built into Alfred and don't require any setup in this respect.
