Would you mind popping an email to our info@ address with a bit more info (e.g. Mac spec, any other OS mods you may have), I'd like to get to the bottom of this

For macOS Sierra, I'd recommend using Alfred 3 available directly from https://www.alfredapp.com

If you'd prefer to stay on Alfred 1.2, you'll have to disable the spell/define feature.

Had a feeling you did. That's why I kept at it. And the new update, which I downloaded from your link, works fine now.

All is right with in myAlfred world once again.

Fair enough - if you update to b749 it'll now accept / and ~/ paths and internally convert to a file url

Interesting spot! I've just spent a bit of time investigating this and it looks like macOS 10.12 has different behaviour where using fn+return passes the mods as being the number pad enter key so it's treated differently in Alfred. I'll get this fixed shortly and do another pre-release

Andrew got a reaction from rounak in mac os selection working incorrectly
@rounak while I can see why this issue is happening, what are you actually trying to achieve here?

If you want to show the actions panel for the given file, select the file and use the Features > File Search > Actions > File Selection hotkey. This will always show the actions panel for the file you have selected. If you want to pass the selected file through to a workflow for processing, set the hotkey action to "pass through to workflow".
Essentially, if you were to type that exact file path into Alfred, you'd get the same results you are seeing here in the file system navigation from selecting a path and showing Alfred with that path. If you turn off "Fuzzy Matching" in Alfred's Features > File Search > Navigation, you'd see the exact file you selected in this case.

To view Alfred on the currently visible screen, set the "Show Alfred on mouse screen" option in Alfred's Appearance > Options.

When it comes to files, Alfred simply asks OS X to open files and documents, so this behaviour is essentially controlled by OS X. Once Mavericks is settled, I am going to do a full usability run through and see if there are any quirks I need to work around, but for now, you may need to configure certain applications to be more compliant, or play with OS X options such as Mission Control's "When switching to an application" option.

Andrew got a reaction from jeffsui in Allow users to detect when Alfred is in focus
@deanishe the first iteration of this will likely be defined in the JSON/XML returned from the script filter... i.e. "rerun script in x seconds if still focused". This would give a bit more dynamic control over duration / repeat for reload. It's also worth mentioning that Alfred will keep the current results visible while reloading the subsequent results, so you could theoretically do this (yet to be tried and tested)...

On first run of the script, show cached results and ask Alfred in the JSON to re-run the script pretty much immediately. Don't return updated results until you have them, and as soon as you do, return them and Alfred updates the results. This way, you get two runs, one with your cached, and one when you have a second set of results.

@DONSA This definitely doesn't sound right - I'll add a ticket to look into this for the next release.

For now, instead of using Lock (which suspends the user session, and could be causing the issue), use Screensaver with Password

Pop an email to our info@ address as I have a bit of a workaround when using target disk mode with the Powerpack

Note: Alfred won't ever wipe preferences, you'll just be finding that the Powerpack is deactivating, and this will be un-setting the preferences sync folder. You shouldn't have to restore the prefs from backup.

Andrew got a reaction from mixj93 in How to compress folder of snippets
I suspect when you are re-compressing, you are keeping the parent folder containing json files, rather than just a zip of json files.

The easiest way to zip in a format compatible with Alfred directly from Finder is to go into the folder, select all the json files, right click and select "Compress x items". You can then rename the .zip to .alfredsnippets.

If you'd like to compress from the command line, Alfred uses the following:
ditto --norsrc -ck SnippetsSrcFolder CollectionName.alfredsnippets Where SnippetsSrcFolder is the folder containing all the json files.

    Hope this helps

Andrew got a reaction from MEs in Create a workflow with files embedded in the .workflow
Once a workflow is installed, if you select it in the list, right click and choose "Open in Finder" then simply put any additional resources here. When you export the workflow, it will automatically be included in the workflow itself.

Likewise, you'll also be able to edit any scripts directly in this workflow folder too.

Alfred can actually do this, but it requires the Powerpack and a workflow to replace the default hotkey.

If you ever change your mind about "nor would I want to get powerpack just for this", let me know and I'll share a workflow with you

Andrew got a reaction from chadg in Why does the letter "m" match the word "iTunes"?
Alfred will very quickly learn to re-latch keywords to selected results, so if you type 'm' and select 'Mailplane' a few times, this will be the first match.

As for iTunes, Apple have the following keywords set:

"Music, Radio, Apple Music, Apple Radio, iTunes Radio, Beats 1, Beats One, B1, iCloud Music Library, Apple Music Connect, My Music"

So it's going to be for 'music'.

    Hope this clears things up!

Andrew got a reaction from winnertakesteve in massive input lag when processor under load
This is something I could likely improve but it would have compromises such as going in the opposite direction and allowing a processor intensive workflow to slow your Mac down. Having said that, I suspect that the lag will have something to do with OS X's metadata querying which is allegedly asynchronous, but I've definitely seen the setup calls being held / blocked which adversely affects Alfred.

I'm going to raise an internal ticket to see if there is something I can do to improve this situation.
