  1. @fncll You can pop a post in the thread for that workflow with your findings: Either the workflow creator, or fellow users of Pinboard may be able to help you resolve this Cheers, Vero
  2. @fncll It's the first time I hear of this kind of issue; It looks like something must be dispatching a Cmd + L key combo (the Large Type combo) or another key combo you may have set for Large Type in workflows. Are you saying that the issue specifically only occurs when you type "p", don't press return and wait? Or does it happen when you type any text and wait with Firefox in the foreground? Does it occur with ANY other apps in the foreground? If you think you've disabled all third-party apps on your Mac that could be interfering, but still see it happening, try creating a secondary user account on your Mac, and testing the same thing there with absolutely nothing else other than Alfred and Firefox running. The more troubleshooting you can do to find out exactly when it does or doesn't happen, the more likely we can help you. This isn't a known issue or something anyone else has reported, so you'll need to do a bit of digging Cheers, Vero
  3. @Victor Guerrero Welcome to the forum I think you may be mixing up a few issues here, but essentially it's caused by an underlying Mojave bug. Here's how you can resolve it: First, domain.com as a folder shouldn't be an issue; You'll see both the URL (if you have the "Recognise URLs in Alfred main window" checked in Features > Web Search > URLs / History) and the folder. I've checked this on my own Mac on Mojave, and the name of the folder makes no difference as far as I can see. Secondly, looking at your Features > Default Results > Advanced screenshot, the file type is not correctly identified - assuming that's a folder you dragged in? Seeing a dyn.[bunch of numbers] file type instead of public.folder for your folder indicates that there's a Launch Services issue. In other words, the folders are not showing up in your results because Alfred doesn't have the information needed to recognise it as a folder file type. You can confirm this by installing Alfred's Metadata tool (https://cachefly.alfredapp.com/tools/AlfredMetadataTool_v1.1.zip) and dragging in folders you can't find. The top section of the data should include "File Type: public.folder" if the Launch Services data is healthy, or a dyn.[numbers] if there's an issue. This appears to be a bug in Mojave where an issue with Launch Services crops up for users who've either restored from backup or upgraded. (Doesn't appear to occur for users who've fresh-installed Mojave). Could you please try rebuilding your Mac's LaunchServices using the command below? This should help macOS re-establish what file type apps should be, which should then return them correctly in Alfred's results. /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain user Once that's completed, you might find Finder & macOS will appear slow temporarily while all old cached icons are replaced. And finally, if you rebuild your Mac's metadata from Alfred's Advanced prefs, you should be able to completely refresh your Mac's index and remove the underlying corruption issues. Let us know how you get on Cheers, Vero
  4. @Prabhu Welcome to the forum. Preferences are not touched during updates, and your Powerpack should certainly not be deactivated. When you say that two of your Macs "lost registration", do you mean your Powerpack was deactivated in the Powerpack tab? Or that your customised preferences were no longer found? Could you please provide more details to the questions below: Do you use any "App cleaners" like CleanMyMac, etc? Do you sync your preferences? If so, what service are you using for syncing? Do you use Time Machine to backup your Mac? Which version of macOS and Alfred are you using? I'll then be able to provide more details on recovering your preferences or reactivating. Cheers, Vero
  5. @Jasondm007 The "reload" command typed into Alfred simply forces a refresh of the application cache Alfred holds. Alfred doesn't cache most result types, but keeps a cache of your apps for extra speedy results. When you make a change like the one I suggested, you can force the cache to refresh to avoid expired results lingering around until another reload. While the Spotlight Comment is an alternative way to do it, some native apps don't allow comments to be added easily, so I tend to recommend the most straightforward and broadly applicable solution. Nothing's stopping you from experimenting on your own Mac. Cheers, Vero
  6. Hi @pe8ter and welcome to the forum Could you share a bit more info about your Mac's setup? - Which Mac are you using? - What is your screen(s) setup? What is your primary screen (built-in or not, Apple or not, retina or not, etc), and secondary screen if relevant? - Do you see the issue on one/both screens? - If there's anything else unique or tweaked about your setup, custom display settings, etc, please let me know. And finally, could you please try creating a second user account on your Mac temporarily? This will allow us to establish whether the issue is specific to your primary profile or a broader issue. Cheers, Vero
  7. @Awfki Your best bet is to first reindex by going to Alfred's Advanced prefs and clicking "Rebuild macOS metadata". It can take up to an hour and resolves most issues relating to indexing. If the issue persists, could you please download the Metadata tool and drag in some of the files you're having issues with? Pop the results in your reply. https://cachefly.alfredapp.com/tools/AlfredMetadataTool_v1.1.zip And finally, could you provide screenshots of your Default Results and File Search preferences? Cheers, Vero
  8. @Jasondm007 We're keeping an eye on this, as we've seen a couple of apps do this recently. It doesn't appear to be a common practice, but I think some over-keen app creators treat it like SEO keyword cramming, and put many more terms than they should in that metadata. As a simple way of dealing with this, you could ignore the app by dragging it to Spotlight's Privacy tab, then press "reload" into Alfred to remove it from results. You can then create a mini-workflow connecting a keyword to an "Open Apps/Files" object where you drag the app, so that you include it in your results for just the term(s) you want it to show up for. Cheers, Vero
  9. @reviolito Alfred does ignore the mouse, unless there's a mouse event. With your combination of Better Touch Tool and Karabiner, it may be that one of the two apps is sending a mouse event, even if it's not visually perceptible. I would suggest either fully quitting those apps (and any app helpers they may be running in the background) or testing on a new user account where those two apps aren't in use. Alfred can't fully ignore mouse events, as a user will often type something then use the mouse to select a result from the list. In case you weren't aware, you can use Ctrl + N or Ctrl + P to navigate up and down Alfred's results if you don't want to use the arrow keys or Cmd + item number to select a result. Cheers, Vero
  10. @Rebecca Alfred needs to be added to the Accessibility preferences. Take a look at the Snippets troubleshooting for more details: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/snippets/ Don't forget to click the padlock in the bottom left of the Security & Privacy preferences so that you can make changes. Cheers, Vero
  11. @Trapper Dave There are a few ways to search for Mail.app emails... 1. Use a workflow Use the one I linked to earlier, or create your own. This is the tidiest and most efficient way to search for emails specifically without cluttering your results. You can then prefix your search term with one of the terms: emfrom to search the sender's name and email address em for a general subject + content search emsubj to search specifically for a subject line 2. Add Mail results to your File Search results Add ~/Library/Mail/ to your Default results In File Search, ensure that Emails is unchecked next to "Don't show" Search by prefixing your search term with "open" (or pressing the spacebar as a shortcut) 3. Add to your default results (not recommended) This will result in the most messy results, and I would not recommend it at all. You can add the Mail file type to the Advanced file types in Default Results, and the ~/Library/Mail/ path to your default results. Again, I do not recommend this as finding essentials like apps amongst the overload of emails will make search far less useful. Cheers, Vero
  12. Alfred isn't an email client; Are your emails in Mail.app, a third-party app like Outlook, or web-based like Gmail? This will help establish where the emails are so that we can help you work out how to ensure you can search for and find your emails Cheers, Vero
  13. @gta91 A few things to check: 1. Are you using Mojave? If so, could you please check the Automation tab in Security & Privacy and ensure that the checkboxes for Alfred to have permissions for automation in the browsers are ticked. Here's more information on granting Alfred the right permissions: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/getting-started/macos-mojave/ 2. How frequently/recently have you used that workflow? Could you please quit Alfred, drag this build to Trash and re-download v3.7.1 from alfredapp.com, and test whether the issue occurs in this build as well? If it occurs in this build too, then the issue isn't related to the recent changes Andrew has made. Let us know how you get on Cheers, Vero
  14. @nikivi It's hard to say whether it's still related to that previous issue you were/are having, as it's not something I've seen from anyone else. Can Spotlight find the files? Given how specific your path is, you could always remove the file types from the basic setup, as I'd imagine the Numbers app folder will only contain Numbers files. Cheers, Vero
  15. @nikivi Works for me, both with the search scope set to iCloud only, and with the search scope cleared to find the files elsewhere on my Mac as well. Check the state of the metadata for those files, and make sure you've got iCloud's "Optimised Storage" disabled, as the files won't actually be stored on your Mac if that feature is enabled. Disabling Optimised Storage: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207236 Metadata tool to check what metadata is provided on those files: https://cachefly.alfredapp.com/tools/AlfredMetadataTool_v1.1.zip Cheers, Vero
  16. Make sure that you're navigating to your user directory's ~/Library/ and not the main Macintosh HD Llbrary. Quickest way to do this is to paste the ~/Library/Mail/ path into Alfred, in fact Don't move anything, as Mail's files need to be where Mail expects them to be. Just make sure Mail is set up with your accounts, then take a look at the path above ensuring you're definitely in the right user directory, and we'll take it from there. Also, please let us know which version of macOS and Alfred you're using. Cheers, Vero
  17. @Trapper Dave Could you please provide more details so that we can help you? - Which version of Alfred and macOS are you using? - How are you searching? What are you typing exactly in Alfred? - Are the emails you're hoping to find in Mail.app? Or a third-party email client? - Were you previously using a workflow, or showing emails in your file search results? - Please provide screenshots of your Default Results and File Search preferences so we can see what settings you've chosen For example, if you were previously searching using a Mail.app search workflow like this one, you may need to import the workflow to get started. If you can provide more information, we'll be happy to help you. Cheers, Vero
  18. @up quark Welcome to the forum We offer the free version of Alfred to allow users to familiarise themselves with the core features, but this doesn't include Snippets Text Expansion, as the latter is a Powerpack-only feature. To download the free version of Alfred, visit https://www.alfredapp.com and click "Download Alfred 3". If you'd like to use the Snippets feature, we offer an affordably priced Single User license. Of course, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask here, and fellow users will be able to help you decide. Cheers, Vero
  19. @roguelazer Welcome to the forum You'll need to grant Alfred Accessibility for the Lock command, so go to Security & Privacy > Privacy > Accessibility and ensure that Alfred's present and checked. Let me know how you get on! Cheers, Vero
  20. @cayman Welcome to the forum I'd recommend using a workflow for this; If your calendar is anything like mine, it'd clutter results quite significantly if these were included in default results. Here's the calendar workflow I use, for which I've set the keyword "cal": https://www.dropbox.com/s/aa2y8morc97k5r3/Calendar search.alfredworkflow?dl=0 Cheers, Vero
  21. @Spencer Transier Welcome to the forum If you're referring to the "non-synced" list, the "Snippet Auto-Expansion" listed there relates to whether text expansion is enabled; You can choose to use text expansion on one Mac but not the other. The snippets will be synced between your Macs, making them available to copy from the Snippets Viewer - or when text expansion is enabled on the second Mac. Hope that clarifies things! Have fun! Cheers, Vero
  22. @patgilmour This isn't possible, but it's something we'll keep in mind when the File Filter object gets an update. Cheers, Vero
  23. @ben.mcmurry Thanks for providing this. Could you please then follow the steps in the rest of my post and let me know the outcome? Cheers, Vero
  24. @patgilmour While the files can't be returned in date order as such (as they're sorted by relevance if you've already opened some of the files more recently), you can certainly use the File Filter's Advanced > Date Range, as this is something I use in my own modified version of the workflow. Keep in mind that the creation and modification date are both taken into account, so take a look at the dates in the metadata (either by revealing it in Finder and looking at the Get Info, or by using Alfred's Metadata Tool: https://cachefly.alfredapp.com/tools/AlfredMetadataTool_v1.1.zip) Also, just in case it caught you out, remember that you need to save/close the File Filter window with your change if you've used the dropdown to set a different Date Range before your workflow will take it into account. Cheers, Vero
  25. @bmazin @ben.mcmurry Could you please both provide me with the following screenshots? Your Default Results settings (with the prefs window large enough to be able to see the full search scope) Your File Search settings Next, reset the search scope to the defaults and uncheck "Include folders in Home". Add your Home folders one by one to the Search Scope until you start seeing the Mail attachments once again. This will then allow you to narrow down which folder is causing the mail attachments to show up when they shouldn't. Our theory is that there may be a file system link hidden in one of those folders, causing these unexpected results to be included. If you can narrow down to it, it'll make it easier to either remove that file system link or tweak your scope accordingly. Let me know how you get on Cheers, Vero
