  1. @furness Welcome to the forum! Could you please fill in your Powerpack email address in your forum profile? This is only visible to admins but allows us to confirm you're a Powerpack user - given features like workflows and hotkeys are only available to Powerpack users Thanks, Vero
  2. Hi @walksoftly Welcome to the forum! When you run Alfred 3 for the first time, if Alfred 2 is still installed, you'll be shown how to migrate your preferences from v2 to v3, so you won't lose your custom searches. Here's how the Migration Assistant works: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/getting-started/migration/ As @dfay mentioned, a small number of workflows may need updating if they're hard-coded to refer to Alfred 2, but as you don't appear to have had a Powerpack in v2, this shouldn't affect you anyway Cheers, Vero
  3. Hi @mogilner Welcome to the forum! In High Sierra, the Screen Saver has simply moved to a new location, so if you update to Alfred 3.4.1, which is currently in pre-release, you'll see that Screen Saver now launches as expected If you're not familiar with pre-releases, launch Alfred to the Update tab, choose "Pre-releases" from the dropdown at the bottom of the panel, and grab 3.4.1. You can switch back to "updates" if you prefer not to get all pre-releases, as these are more frequent than regular updates. Also, a quick search on Google relating to "bug in libdispatch" shows quite a lot of results; It relates to Apple's Grand Central Dispatch, and I'm sure Apple will resolve this before the general release of High Sierra, but I've raised a ticket for it for Andrew to look into anyway. Cheers, Vero
  4. @Misha Could you clarify what you're actually trying to achieve? Given the range of objects in Alfred, it's likely that there's a better way to achieve what you want. Are you trying to open Alfred with the macOS selection, with it prefixed with the keyword "n"? If so, that's quite easy and would be much more reliable... (You'll just need to also set a hotkey, which I didn't do in this example) Beyond that, Alfred has a built-in Dispatch Key Combo output object, a Delay utility object, etc, so you might be able to do what you need without AppleScript keystrokes. Cheers, Vero
  5. Which version of macOS are you using on that earlier MBP? Also on High Sierra I assume? Can you confirm the only time it happens is with blurred themes?
  6. @martynaskairys Welcome to the forum! Rather than adding video files to your default results, which clutters results when you want to do simple things like launch apps, try using the "open" keyword (or pressing the spacebar, which is a shortcut for it) For example "[spacebar]rolling" brings up relevant .mov and .avi videos on my Mac. If you're new to Alfred, take a look at this guide to searching using Alfred, which shows you the difference between searching for apps and for general files: https://www.alfredapp.com/blog/tips-and-tricks/beginners-guide-to-alfred-searching-your-mac-and-the-web/ Cheers, Vero
  7. Hi @GuiB Update to the 3.4.1 pre-release - This has now been fixed Alternatively, you can right-click the Snippet Trigger object and choose "Insert After..." to choose the next object you want to see appear. Cheers, Vero
  8. @flome @ThoseGrapefruits You can use any theme, but turn down the blur by clicking the icon in the top left of the Appearance canvas (for custom themes, not visible on default themes) We'll keep an eye on the next few Developer Previews, as a couple of users have now reported this issue with themes using blur. Could you also let me know your Mac's spec? Cheers, Vero
  9. Hi @houserenren Welcome to the forum Alfred relies on macOS to provide results for apps and files, and it looks like Microsoft apps may not be correctly indexed by macOS. - Try opening Spotlight's Preferences to the Privacy tab - Drag your Applications folder to it and wait 30 seconds. - Remove the Applications folder from the Privacy tab and wait another 30 seconds to allow macOS to reindex the folder - Type "reload" into Alfred and search again Let me know how you get on. Cheers, Vero
  10. @dunkaroo Glad it's helpful I try to publish tips as often as possible to help everyone discover creative uses for workflows and features! You'll find a stack on the blog: https://www.alfredapp.com/blog/category/tips-and-tricks/ And more in-depth tutorials on the Guides and Tutorials page: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/guides-and-tutorials/ Cheers, Vero
  11. @nikivi Given how straightforward a hotkey trigger set to pop up Alfred is, I'm not sure how much simpler a solution you want? The workflow literally consists of a single Hotkey object, with the action "Show Alfred" and the text plus a blank space filled in as argument. I've used the keyword "quit" there because I've left mine to defaults, but you can change it to "q" if that's what you're using. Cheers, Vero
  12. @paulbryanvisual There's in fact a much simpler way than the one suggested by @surrealroad in his latest post. Create a hotkey, and assign it the following configuration (except for the hotkey - obviously set anything you like for that) When you use your hotkey, Alfred will pop-up with "r this" already populated. Hope this helps Cheers, Vero
  13. @Jasondm007 Given that the original post is over four years old, workflows have evolved significantly since. In Alfred 3, you could add multiple keyword objects before your script filter, one for each keyword. Set them to "No argument" and you'll then be able to hit Enter to launch your script filter. It requires one more press of the Enter key, but may suit your needs However, given the example from the original post using "w" and "wiki", these aren't necessary, as you can just type "w" and press the Tab key when the Wiki workflow is selected, and Alfred will auto-complete the keyword "wiki", ready for you to type your search term. Cheers, Vero
  14. Hi @Mrryf Welcome to the forum Alfred simply tells macOS to launch using your default browser. If you set your Mac's default browser to Chrome (in Chrome's own preferences), 1PW bookmarks will be opened in Chrome. If you've recently set Chrome as your default browser but the setting doesn't seem to yet be applied, try restarting your Mac, as sometimes macOS doesn't register the change as efficiently as it should. Cheers, Vero
  15. @dbswriter I've responded to your email earlier today, so please take a look at my reply, and let me know by email if I can help you further. Cheers, Vero
  16. @Ryan McGeary That's a great example, and confirms I'd understood your original suggestion perfectly. We actually have a ticket to look at exactly this for a future release. I just didn't articulate this as well as I could've done, and was providing suggestions of how you can do something similar using the already-available features in the meantime Keep an eye out for upcoming releases! Cheers, Vero
  17. @Ryan McGeary Welcome to the forum In a standard snippet, you can use dynamic content, which could include dynamically inserting clipboard content, or date and time: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/features/clipboard/dynamic-placeholders/ However, for something more advanced, you'd be better off using a snippet trigger object, which was added in Alfred 3.4. You can use the snippet trigger object to trigger a workflow, where you can add any number of pop-up prompts or scripts to add further text. If you're using Alfred 3.4, take a look at this guide to discover how to use the Snippet Triggers: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/workflows/triggers/snippet/snippet-triggers-with-dynamic-inputs/ Another example we've created runs a small script in the middle to define whether it's morning, afternoon, evening or night and starts the pasted snippet with the appropriate greeting (e.g. "Good morning!"). There are so many options, but you'll most likely want to use something like the List Filter example in the guide above. Don't hesitate to ask if you need any help, as this is a new feature and I'm still in the process of creating documentation and examples for it! Cheers, Vero
  18. @dunkaroo Rather than use a Snippet Trigger, in those situations, you'd be better off using a keyword-based workflow, or popping up the Snippets Viewer to choose the snippet you want to paste. With a keyword-based workflow, you can still paste the output of your workflow; Just take a look at the Copy to Clipboard object and check the "Automatically paste to frontmost app". When pasting from the Snippet viewer, or using a standard keyword-based workflow, Alfred doesn't send any delete keys to remove the original snippet, so there's no risk of your files being accidentally deleted. Cheers, Vero
  19. @xavdid Try turning off window blur for the theme. Launch Alfred's Appearance preferences, select your theme, and click the blur icon in the top left of the preview panel. Turn the window blur down to none, and see if that makes your Mac happier Cheers, Vero
  20. @jneug Alfred's clipboard history has a passive read-only view of the macOS clipboard; It doesn't modify, manipulate or use Accessibility to fettle with the macOS clipboard. I've moved this out of the Bugs forum and into Discussion and Help, in case any other LibreOffice users have anything to suggest. If you're seeing this issue with TextExpander as well, it sounds like it's an issue you may want to raise with LibreOffice. Cheers, Vero
  21. @mescalito 1Password marks all passwords as concealed data, so they aren't copied by Alfred or other clipboard managers, where your password would then most likely be stored in plain text. The "Ignored apps" is a further way for users to add other apps they wish to ignore. I may be stating the obvious, but saving passwords in plain text in Alfred's clipboard defeats the point of using secure password managers like 1Password, so it'd be best to add the testing sites' URLs to the 1Password entry for the login/password you want to use (one entry can contain multiple URLs where the same details can be used) or temporarily store your passwords in a plain text file while testing the sites in question. If you copy the password from a plain text file to Alfred, the password will be treated as simple text and will successfully copy to the clipboard. You can then remove an item from Alfred's clipboard later by selecting it and using Function + backspace. Cheers, Vero
  22. @introom Not quite - It means that Alfred and Spotlight both instruct macOS to open a window, and beyond that, neither Alfred or Spotlight take control of how macOS or the app themselves choose to open their windows.
  23. @introom As per my earlier post, did you try this behaviour with Spotlight? It's likely that you'll see exactly the same behaviour in both Alfred and Spotlight as far as which screen apps appear on.
  24. @gordonsalter Welcome to the forum! You've discovered Alfred's File Buffer feature You can press alt + Backspace to remove the icon from the top. The buffer allows you to store a few files to take action on later. You can find out more about it here: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/features/file-search/#file-buffer Or you can disable it under Features > File Search > Buffer if you don't plan on using it. Cheers, Vero
  25. @introom If you pop by Appearances > Options (bottom left) and take a look at "where he shows" - what did you set your display preference to? If I set mine to "Active screen" and use the secondary screen, I can launch any number of apps on the active (secondary) screen. However, macOS seems to make some exceptions, e.g. when I launch Preview on the second screen, the file selection appears on the expected screen but once you choose a file to open, macOS opens it on the default screen (by which point the action is no longer under Alfred's control). This is the same behaviour you'll see if you try it using Spotlight. If you can give some more precise examples of the behaviour you see, and the apps you see this with, I'm happy to take a look, but it's likely to be a scenario like the one above. Cheers, Vero
